Heat Tool Action!

Posted on

I am officially hooked on the heat tool!  I wanted to create a little note card for a friend of mine so I thought, hey, why not have some fun with embossing?!  Plus, who can say no to glitter?!  Again, something simple but sweet!  I’m also usually pretty terrible at creating Flagged edges on anything but have to say, this one turned out okay!!

It’s hard to believe Christmas is 2 weeks away!  Where on earth has the time gone?  Hopefully, unlike me, you’re all set for the Holidays!  I tell myself every year that I’ll start early but for whatever reason, it never happens.  (Note to 2013 self…..START EARLY-seriously!!!).

I also hope if you’ve created your own Christmas cards this year that you’ve managed to get them done and at least prepped and ready for mailing at this stage!  We’re just about finished ours.  For those of you that know my husband and  I, we like to put a lot of creative thought into what we send out.  My husband, being an illustrator, always does a great job and it’s always fun seeing him bring our ideas to life!  Once it’s complete, I’ll be sure to post it here so you can share in the fun as well!  Stay tuned!!

Birthday for the Mr.

Posted on

Last night was an exciting night.  Not only did my Workshop order arrive, I got to PLAY with my new gadgets!!  The night’s mission was to create a Birthday Card for the Mr.  It was a tough one because he was sitting about 10 feet away buried in the land of Halo 4 (for the gamers out there).  Despite having to work a little quicker than usual, I still got to test out my new toys.  First and foremost, (and Merry Christmas to me), I got myself a Stampin’ Up! Big Shot!  For years I have gone back and forth on the decision to get myself a multipurpose tool that would allow me to enjoy die cutting along with embossing, etc. and not break the bank.  I’ve wanted something that would level up my creativity and allow me the flexibility to incorporate lots of fun shapes, textures, and the like.  That said, I finally invested in something……the Big Shot.  Below is the Front of the card I managed to pull off.  Please excuse the nice little ink blip in the bottom left corner of my sentiment piece…..I was about to start using a blue ink and then of course changed my mind at the last minute  (which happens……a lot!!!).

Alongside the Big Shot, I managed to get myself the Embossing Heat Tool.  Oh man that thing is great.  I remember way back when, when my mom and I used to stamp cards.  If we wanted to emboss anything, you’d find us hovering over a lightbulb to heat/melt the powder!  This Heat Tool is super quick which is great and adds a really nice touch to any stamped image!  Below is the simple inside to this Birthday card.

A little Thank You…..

My workshop order is in!!!  Huzzah!!  As I anxiously awaited the arrival of this order, and continued to check in on the UPS status link (almost obsessively I’ll admit! – have I mentioned how much I love “fun mail”??), I thought, well, I can make my thank you notes while I wait!!  So I did!  I wanted to create a little something for my customers to let them know how much I appreciated their order.   Below is what I came up with.  It’s a small card, about 4″ x 3″ but it’s the perfect size to say “thanks”!
