Blast Off!

Posted on

Just a quick post tonight……

I have wanted to try using the shaker frames from SU!, so I found a piece of inspiration and did this card for my Nephew’s Birthday!!

And here’s a little bit of a closer view of the actual “window” frame that i created.

Birthday_BlastOff_CUThere was a lot of “fussy-cutting” involved here and I realized very quickly that I would never have made a great Dr.  In a couple of spots I think you can actually see the “shake” in my hand! ha!

In order to give the moon a bit of a feel of texture, I just used a piece of kleenex and some “crumb cake” ink to make splotches representing moon surface!  It was a fun card to make and definitely tested the patience!  😉

So here’s what I used to make the above:

PAPER :  Night of Navy, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie

STAMPS:  Blast Off

INK:  Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie

TOOLS:  Big Shot – Chevron Embossing Folder

ACCESSORIES:  Dimensionals, Shaker Frame, Window Sheet, Googly Eyes, Dazzling Details, Dazzling Details Silver Sparkle

That said, it’s time to say GOOOOOOODBYE to a lot of other items!  As most of you likely already know, the retired list has been up for a little while now and there’s only 1 WEEK LEFT before those products disappear.  This is inclusive of Stampin’ Up!’s colour refresh.  Any of the retiring colours that you once loved or continue to love will be GONE!!  Click on the image below and you’ll be directed to my site to see what’s left.  Get yourself stocked up on refills, etc. while you can.  I also strongly recommend you nab those things you’ve had your hearts set on because again, once these puppies retire, you’ll likely never see them again!!   You have until JUNE 3rd!!!MainAd_RetiredList_DBWS_4.24.13_NA

So here’s what I came up with…..Here’s the card in its closed state:

Pull the ribbon upward and…….

Special Birthday

Posted on

I wanted to do up a little something extra special for a very good friend of mine this month.  Her Birthday was about a week ago and I wanted to think of something fun and fancy to make for her.  So, with just a few supplies, I managed to come up with this……..What do you think?

DebsBday copy

Within Stampin’ Up!’s DSP called “Flirtatious” are two sheets of this cool die cut paper – almost look like fancy doilies!!  So I carefully cut one out to provide the circular backing you see above.  For the inside, just a simple sentiment.

To make the card above, I used the following materials:

PAPER :  Very Vanilla, Pretty In Pink, DSP – “Flirtatious”

STAMPS:  Vintage Verses, Blooming With Kindness

INK:  Wisteria Wonder

TOOLS:  Big Shot – Finishing Touches Edgelits, Perfect Polka Emboss Folder

ACCESSORIES:  Basic Rhinestone, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Happy Crafting!

Birthday for the Mr.

Posted on

Last night was an exciting night.  Not only did my Workshop order arrive, I got to PLAY with my new gadgets!!  The night’s mission was to create a Birthday Card for the Mr.  It was a tough one because he was sitting about 10 feet away buried in the land of Halo 4 (for the gamers out there).  Despite having to work a little quicker than usual, I still got to test out my new toys.  First and foremost, (and Merry Christmas to me), I got myself a Stampin’ Up! Big Shot!  For years I have gone back and forth on the decision to get myself a multipurpose tool that would allow me to enjoy die cutting along with embossing, etc. and not break the bank.  I’ve wanted something that would level up my creativity and allow me the flexibility to incorporate lots of fun shapes, textures, and the like.  That said, I finally invested in something……the Big Shot.  Below is the Front of the card I managed to pull off.  Please excuse the nice little ink blip in the bottom left corner of my sentiment piece…..I was about to start using a blue ink and then of course changed my mind at the last minute  (which happens……a lot!!!).

Alongside the Big Shot, I managed to get myself the Embossing Heat Tool.  Oh man that thing is great.  I remember way back when, when my mom and I used to stamp cards.  If we wanted to emboss anything, you’d find us hovering over a lightbulb to heat/melt the powder!  This Heat Tool is super quick which is great and adds a really nice touch to any stamped image!  Below is the simple inside to this Birthday card.

To make the above, here’s what I used:

*Basic Navy, Baby Blue, Yellow & White Card Stock
*Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set
*Love Ya Bunches Stamp Set
*Daffodil Delight Ink Pad
*Versa Mark Ink Pad
*Silver Embossing Powder
*Decorative Label Punch
*Big Shot – Perfect Polka Embossing Folder
*Yellow Sharpie Pen
*Stampin’ Up! Embossing Heat Tool
*Stampin’ Up! Big Shot

*As always, anything else you think you’d like to add to it!

Birthday x2

Posted on

Tonight I tackled Birthday Card #2.  Again, keeping with the Fall theme, I once again used my “Lovely As a Tree” set and did this simple little diddy:

Because this is going to one of my husband’s buddies, I didn’t want to “jazz” it up too much.  Not sure how much he’d appreciate rhinestone accents!  I did play with my new “wax paper” trick again when stamping.  It’s pretty neat as no two images will stamp the same!

To make the card above, I used the following:

*Basic Blue Card Stock
*Basic Navy Card Stock
*Shimmery Cream Paper (I will be working hard to get through this!)
*Basic Lime Green Grosgrain Ribbon
*Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set
*Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set
*Old Olive Ink Pad
*Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad
*Real Red Ink Pad
*Daffodil Delight Ink Pad
*Pacific Point Ink Pad

*As always, anything else you think you’d like to add to it!

I have one more small little Birthday card to make which I’ll take on tomorrow.  That said, this post is a short and sweet one.

Until next time……
