HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Posted on

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope, being the 3rd day in, that 2015 has been good to you so far!  2014 ended off with a pretty big bang for me given how busy things were.  With 2 Craft Sales and a class, my crafting hands were dancing!  I met some wonderful people and got to craft with some new and some favourite faces at my class so I was very excited!  For those that didn’t get to make it, I’ve posted a photo below of the spread of items we made.  It was a fun day, and I’m now in the process of plans for a Spring Themed Class!  Details will be posted in the “class/workshop” section of my blog so be sure to check back.

With the New Year comes a new Catalogue!  Seasonal Catalogue, that is!  We’re saying good bye to Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas and HELLOOOO to all things Spring!  I’ll be posting the new catalogue up on my blog over the next day or so – once it’s been officially released!  This includes SALE-A-BRATION too!  This is your chance to earn free stuff!

Among all the Christmas prep, I continued to do other things.  I made the below card for my Mum’s Birthday.  I love this flower punch and have had lots of use out of it (Supplies listed below).

That’s it for tonight!  Be sure to check back over the next day or so for the release of the new Catalogue!!

Thanks for stopping by!

TOOLS FOR FLOWER POT CARD:

***NOTE – “Lucky Limeade” Paper and Ink – Retired.  “Pear Pizzaz” would easily make a nice replacement.

The Flower Pot was actually made by accident – I used the “Dress Up” Framelits (now retired) and had cut it in half for something else…..only to discover the remaining pieces made a cool Flower pot!

‘Tis The Season…..for Vendor Sales!

Hi Everyone!

My deepest apologies for not updating in a while!  Life has been busy, but a good busy!!  I don’t think I could truly express how happy this crafting makes me.  I realize to most, sending cards and the like is a thing of the past in this digital world.  However, I am beginning to see how much more people appreciate receiving such cards in the mail, or with gifts because it IS so rare.  I don’t know about you, but as easy as emails and e-invites, etc are, they’re just not the same.  I feel like there is more thought that goes into the card you select/make and it shows that you put effort into your greeting.  Don’t you think?  Let’s make it a New Year resolution!! Send out cards for friends/family Birthdays!!!  Anyway, perhaps that’s a rant for another day!!  Let’s get on with it, shall we?

With Christmas around the corner, I have been busy preparing for two Vendor Sales.  I had one earlier this month and my next one will be at the end of the Month.  I thought I would take this time to share a couple of the items I’ve made!  Not only have I made a boat-load of Christmas cards, but I have also made items such as Gift Bags, Journals, Treat Cups & Boxes, custom wrapped pens and Magnets!!  Yes, I’ve been busy.

This was my set up at the last Vendor Sale:

So without any further delay, here’s one of my favourite cards from my Christmas Selection….

The card was made with the “Festival of Trees” bundle!

MerryLittleWishThe cool part about the above is that I coloured basic pearls with Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities.  This won’t work with just any marker! You can also do this with the basic rhinestones!  Talk about coordination!!  Below is the card’s inside….
LotsOfJoyatChristmas_InsideSupplies are listed below in case you’re interested!

Here’s a look at one of the journals I completed.  It’s inclusive of a matching custom covered Pen!  Woohoo!  If you’re like me, I’m a sucker for journals and notebooks!  I have a “small” collection that remain un-inked!  One day I will commit to them!  This one is all packaged up and ready for sale!

JournalWith all of the hubbub of prepping and maintaining life around that, how do I stay sane?  Good music, a supportive family and a husband who keeps me company while I craft away!

I will say, since we cancelled our Cable TV (yes, there came a point where there was NO point in having it) we have both been so much more productive.  My husband is an illustrator/concept artist so he uses that time to work on personal pieces.  I definitely feel better knowing that rather than sitting in front of the tube, we’re working hard to achieve the goals we’ve set for ourselves.

Okay, so how did I create the above card?  Here’s the list of supplies……:

“Merry Little Wish” Card

I didn’t use the same Silver Ribbon as posted above but that would work just as well.  I happened to grab whatever it was I had available!
Perhaps I will try to post a new card every couple of nights.  If you like what you see, let me know!
Thanks for stopping by and hope you’ll check back in!

Okay, so I hate to make you think of this now, buuuuuut, I’m going to!  Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!!!!!

It’s not so far away anymore!  I know, I know.  You might be the type to think, “ugh, I don’t want to think about that now”, or perhaps “it’s too soon!”.  Fair enough.  However, once you take a look at the items within the new SU! catalogue, you might just change your mind.

I’ve posted a link to the right so you can start perusing right away!

Here are a couple of my favourites from this year’s Holiday Catalogue:

Fun With the Brayer!

Posted on

Brayer

Some time ago, I bought a Brayer.  I tore it out of its package and thought to myself….”hmmmmm, where do I start?”.  It sat on my desk for a while…it moved around…..and then eventually it moved into a drawer.  Not until a few weeks ago did I stop before closing my drawer, and pick it up.  I set it on my desk and decided it was time to work with it.  I’m not sure why I was so hesitant.  I think it was mostly because I’d never worked with one.  So I pulled out some paper and decided to give it a go.  Here’s one of the projects I did using the Brayer.

Brayer_HeyThereFriend

The thing that I love the most about the Brayer is the Gradient effects you can create.  They can look so pretty as a backdrop or you can turn it into a feature point.  Above, I used two of the new “In-Colours” – Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey.  (Full list of supplies at bottom).

Once I had the gradient thing figured out (I won’t say Mastered ’cause I sure haven’t mastered it yet!), I thought, why not try something with Blues – which then became, “let’s do a night scene”!!!
Brayer_InProgress

Above is the In progress shot.  You can see where the Brayer rolled over some uneven areas on my mat but it actually made me think of Northern lights.  I masked out the moon using the 1 3/8″ circle punch and then stamped a set of trees from the set “Lovely As A Tree” in Black.

Brayer_ThinkingOfYou

Once the trees were stamped on, I dabbed the moon with some Crumb Cake colouring and added the “stars” using the Dazzling Details.  Lastly, I embossed the sentiment “Thinking of You” from the Sassy Salutations Stamp set in Silver.  This card face was then mounted on a piece of Lost Lagoon Card stock as the mat border and then on to Island Indigo card stock.

There’s so much more you could do with this scene but I opted to keep it simple.  Thinking I might very well try a sunset version of this!!  ;)

Thanks for stopping by!  Feel free to drop a comment and let me know what you think!

Check back soon!

For the above Cards, here’s the list of supplies used:

“HEY THERE FRIEND”

**The Directional Stamp at the bottom is from the “Glittered Greetings” Paper Pumpkin Kit and the Arrow Paper clip at the top is now retired.  :(

***The Sentiment and Splatter Stamps came from the “Hey There” Paper Pumpkin Kit – Item #132599

“THINKING OF YOU”
**I used “Not Quite Navy” Ink however that one is now retired.  I’ve included “Night Of Navy” below as I feel this would work just as well.

If you’re looking for a little more inspiration, there’s a new catalogue in town!  The release of Stampin’ Up!’s new annual catalogue is here!  Youpie!  If you haven’t already seen it, you’ll definitely want to stop by my site to have a look!  I’m really excited about a few of the new products and look forward to sharing some ideas with you.  Namely, the new “in-colours”.  They are some nice rich colours.  Check them out:

I’m a sucker for most things purple so I’m a fan of this one.  Also love the yellow, err rather, honey colour too!  ;).

Most of all I’m excited about the introduction of “Blendabilities”!!  I have a real soft spot for colouring and with the 3 colour layers per set to help you design your own gradients, it adds that much more dimension to your creations.

And PAPER!  I’m a bit of a paper-junkie so was super excited to see the new Designer series paper.  I’m really liking these two:

PARK LANE

Last but not least….Stamps.  Where do I begin?  I have a number of loves but you’ll just have to wait and see them in action!  We have a whole year to explore the fun inside this year’s Catalogue!!

If you don’t have a catalogue yet, you can peruse the online version of it HERE.  You can also find the link to the right of this post.

Let’s get crafting!!!
